Weddings everywhere? Here’s what to wear.

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

First, big news! We’ve relocated Ped HQ from sunny Santa Barbara to beautiful Berkeley, CA! We are so excited to be back in the Bay area. It’s where I grew up, and Terry has family here, too.

But on to you and what I’m pretty sure you need this time of year. I suspect last month you received a deluge of wedding invitations for every weekend in June (and on through the summer). Some weddings are super-traditional, conservative affairs while others are more relaxed and free-spirited. In either case, Ped’s got you covered. Here are a few items that will help you look beautiful and feel comfortable at any knot-tying you might attend.

Obviously, you need shoes. The holy grail is one you can stand around in for hours without your feet crying for mercy. Here are two suggestions, both in the Cydwoq Vintage line (so you know they’re comfortable). First, for the more conservative ceremony, I suggest the Sprint. Heck, you could even wear this shoe if you were the bride!

Another option–slightly more go-lightly in its design–is the Ridge. I love how its lines are so graceful!

Of course, you don’t want to outshine the bride (unless you are the bride, in which case, shine on, sister!), but you can still up your style ante with some lovely accessories. This Jamie Joseph rose quartz ring is so pretty! The picture really doesn’t do justice to how delicately pink the sparkling stone is.

And this Sophie Digard fringed linen beauty is just the thing to fend off any dip in the temperature at a late-afternoon or evening wedding.

Now you’re all set to go out and be a gracious and drop-dead gorgeous guest!

Yes, it’s been toooooo long since I’ve posted a bit of Ped goodness here. But now that spring is springing, I feel fresh and ready to gambol about in the warm weather–in new shoes, of course! Here at Ped, we LOVE everything green. So, behold three of our favorite ways to show off the color that comes with spring.

First up, Chie Mihara’s seriously juicy Vespa. I ask you, could this shoe be any more glamorous? Besides the gorgeous color, I particularly love the slight curve to the heel.

But maybe you just want a run-around-town sandal that can take you from the dog park to the farmer’s market to the hammock on your porch for a little siesta. In that case, Cydwoq’s Fence is your perfect companion. I know we say it in every description, but the great thing about Cydwoq is every shoe molds to your foot and truly gets better the more you wear it.

Finally, if you’re feeling extra sassy (and you should be–why not? It’s spring already!), then Trippen has just the shoe to match your mood: the Donna. Ankle straps are going to be big this spring and summer, and Trippen gives them quite the European twist!

Step out in any of these shoes, and people are going to ooh and aah over your footwear. And a few might just be “green” with envy (quit groaning–spring makes me punchy!).

Chi-Chi-Chie! (And Sophie!)

How I love Fall (even if it’s not quite the same in Southern Cal as it was in Seattle)!!! I adore when there’s a bit of a bite in the air, and nothing feels better than wrapping one of Sophie Digard’s soft and light wool scarves around my neck. How does she make crocheting so Parisian chic? Here’s one of my favorites from our latest shipment at Ped:

This Edelweiss Scarf is so striking. The way Sophie combines her fine wool yarns is beyond intricate. Whenever I wear one of her scarves, I love to just examine the details because I always find something I didn’t notice before. And her color combinations are to die for.

Meanwhile, Chie Mihara has a bevy of beauties in her Fall shoe line. Truly, you can’t go wrong with Chie, especially if you work in an office where you have to wear heels everyday. Even when her shoes rise 4″, they’re always comfortable because she really understands how to position a heel and pad a footbed for optimal pampering. I can stand for hours while in Chie’s without having my dogs bark for mercy. That’s saying something! This Ote lace-up is one of my faves this season due to its “sexy secretary” styling and gorgeous eggplant color:

And just for fun, check out the dazzling heel on Chie’s Oda:

How great would this beauty look walking amid fallen autumn leaves?? We love, we love.

Okay, more soon, as the temperature dips…

Paris: what I wore

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

With all that walking around Paris, I couldn’t believe that my feet didn’t hurt!! Of course, I wore my trusted Cydwoqs and Trippens (cool with funky socks if it’s cold). I never go on a vacation without one or two pairs. Trust me!! I walk ALOT. Also, be sure to wear a bag across your body – my Orla Kiely came in very handy for my tour guidebook, map, water, wallet, and big enough for some purchases !
